Dartmouth North Community Food Centre to receive substantial support.

Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) is delighted to announce its newest Signature Partner, the Dartmouth North Community Food Centre.

The Signature Partnership is a cornerstone of HIAA’s Community Outreach Program. Last year, the Program supported more than 200 local organizations with $215,000 in financial and in-kind support.

As part of the Signature Partnership, HIAA will provide financial support of $75,000 to the Dartmouth North Community Food Centre over the next three years, plus provide awareness and volunteer support.

This is Halifax Stanfield’s third Signature Partner. Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia was the first (2010-2012) followed by Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank (2013-2015).

“The Dartmouth North Community Food Centre is an integral part of our community and we’re thrilled to support the important work they do,” says Joyce Carter, HIAA President & CEO. “As Atlantic Canada’s first Community Food Centre, they are committed to developing programs that engage and bond community members. We are confident our support will help to create new opportunities for them to make an even bigger impact.”

Dartmouth North Community Food Centre, offers a welcoming space where people can come together to grow, cook, share, and advocate for good food. The Centre also holds events and workshops that get community members involved while building new skills in cooking and gardening.

“The Dartmouth North Community Food Centre is honoured to be chosen as HIAA’s Signature Partner for the next three years,” says Roxanne Manning, Executive Director of the Dartmouth Family Centre/Dartmouth North Community Food Centre. “This ongoing support will be felt across our programming, from our Saturday Market, where we distribute more than 800 pounds of low-cost produce every week, to our Community Farm, regular Community Meals and after-school programming for young cooks. We look forward to working alongside the HIAA team over the coming years as they contribute their time, expertise and financial support.”
