    In 2020, Halifax Stanfield became the first facility in Nova Scotia to achieve the Gold Accessibility Rating from the Rick Hansen Foundation.

    Transportation Options

    There are many accessible transportation options available to and from Halifax Stanfield. We recommend travellers reserve their accessible transportation in advance, before arriving at the airport, when possible.

    Transit

    All Halifax Transit buses are accessible, including the Regional Express #320 Airport—Fall River bus. Travellers can also arrange for service using Halifax’s Access-A-Bus.

    Taxis

    Accessible taxi service is integrated into the fleet of taxis serving Halifax Stanfield. Please request an accessible taxi from the Ground Transportation desk. Passengers are asked to communicate the details of their specific needs to staff at the Ground Transportation Desk to ensure their needs are met.

    TJ’s Driving Service offers wheelchair-accessible bus and taxi service to Metro and throughout the province of NS. Reservations require 24 hours’ notice and may be made by calling (902)-441-9100. TJ’s Driving Service can accommodate a non-folding or non-collapsing mobility aid.

    Rental Cars

    Travellers interested in renting vehicles with accessible services/features should contact the rental car company directly for information. A complete list of Halifax Stanfield car rental companies is available here.

    Parking

    Designated parking spots for people with disabilities are located in all of Halifax Stanfield’s parking lots and facilities. In all cases, stalls are located close to entrance/exit points and elevators for maximum convenience. Accessible shuttle transportation to and from the terminal building to the Park ‘N Fly lot is available.

    Feedback Process

    Halifax Stanfield is subject to the Accessible Transportation for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (ATPDR) and the provisions of these regulations that apply to it. Under the act, our obligations are to the following sections:

    Part 1: Requirements Applicable to Transportation Service Providers (Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10(2), 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17(a), (b), (d), (e), 18, 19(1)(2)(a), (b), (f), 20, 21, 22 and 23)

    Part 4: Requirements Applicable to Terminal Operators (Sections 212(a), 214, 215, 216, 217, 218, 219, 220, 221, 222, 223, 224, 225(1)(2)(a), 226, 227, 228, 229, 230 and 231)
